Jim Knutson – Episode 22

It’s that time of the week where we introduce our next musician in our series, Meet the Musician! This week we welcome one of the percussionists for the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, Jim Knutson! Knutson has an MFA from the University of Iowa and went to Luther College where he traveled with the orchestra to Europe. Mr. K taught high school band for 30 years, the last 15 at Onalaska, and also taught at Saint Mary’s in Winona for 10 years. He’s traveled to China with a Sousa band, taught at a music camp in Haiti, and just took the La Crosse Bell Choir to France and Germany. Currently, Knutson directs 3 bell choirs, plays in a praise band weekly, directs the 10 piece CR Steel Band, the CR HS Jazz All-Stars, and plays at the Starlite with his Latin Vibe quartet. Give a round of applause and don’t hit pause.
