The two 1st place winners of the Rising Stars Concerto Competition will perform with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra at the Saturday, March 17th concert! The results of the 19th Annual Rising Stars Concerto Competition from Saturday, Jan. 20th:The winner of the 1st place $2000 Instrumental Award in Memory of Jane Saline is Madeline Sheard, 18 yrs, Maple Grove, MN. She will be playing the Dvorak cello concerto in B minor, 1st Mvt. with the LSO on March 17, 2018. Madeline studies with Mina Fisher.
The winner of the 1st place $2000 Anna Beth Culver Piano Award is Emma Taggart, 15 yrs, Blaine MN. She will be playing the Grieg Piano concerto no. 1, 1st Mvt. with the LSO on March 17, 2018. Emma studies with Dr. Reid Smith.
The winner of the 2nd place $1000 Jay and Dawn Jaehnke Piano Award is
Nita Qiu, 15 yrs, Woodbury, MN. She performed the Chopin Piano Concerto No, 2 in F minor, 1st Mvt and studies with Dr. Joseph Zins.
The winner of the 2nd place $1000 Jan and Thomas Brock Instrumental Award is Isabelle Krier, 16 yrs, Oregon, WI. She performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, 3rd Mvt, and studies with Eugene Purdue.
The winner of the 3rd place $500 John Bolstad Instrumental Award is Carina Yee, 17 yrs, Decorah, IA. She performed the Wieniawski Violin Concerto in D minor, 1st mvt and studies with Igor Kalnin.
The winner of the 3rd place $500 Jean Ann and Sigurd Gundersen III Piano Award is Kirill Nazarov, 17 yrs, Faribault, MN. He performed the Grieg Piano concerto no. 1, 1st mvt and studies with Alexander Braginsky.
